The Unexpected Light

Walking through life,

I stumbled and fell

into a hollow pit…

as black as hell.

The void was endless,

the silence cold…

no shape, no self,

no hand to hold.

I screamed for help,

I cried and wept…

no one came,

not a shadow stirred.

With trembling hands,

I held myself close…

wiped my tears dry

as my courage arose.

I stopped trying to escape

and stood still instead…

and somewhere in that stillness,

a soft light spread.

A forgotten whisper

rose through the gloom…

a spark so quiet

it barely bloomed.

I built around it…

a breath, a flame…

something gentle,

without a name.

Nature bloomed around me here…

sorrow faded far…

and joy drew near.

The world turned bright,

so clear, so wise…

and slowly that fall

became my rise.

In that place…

I finally came alive.
